Natural ingredients, carefully chosen
When you choose an Alkemi product, you should be able to understand what you're buying and why it's there.
You'll find natural plant oils, botanicals, clays, herbs and pure essential oils in our products, carefully selected for their quality, character and purpose.
You won't find synthetic fragrance oils or ingredients added simply to bulk out a formula or make a product look good.
Every ingredient has a purpose.
In our home fragrance, that purpose might be to create a beautiful natural scent, bring balance to a fragrance blend or evoke a particular feeling.
In our botanical body care, ingredients are chosen for their functional and skin-loving properties as well as the sensory experience they create.
Ingredients you can feel good about
We believe natural products should be thoughtfully made, not simply labelled “natural”.
That's why we consider every ingredient that goes into an Alkemi product, where it comes from, what it contributes and how it works alongside everything else in the formulation.
You'll find plant oils such as olive, rice bran and sweet almond oil in our cold process soaps, alongside botanicals, clays and essential oils.
You'll find carefully selected herbs and botanicals in our bath teas, chosen to create a relaxing bathing ritual.
And throughout the collection, you'll find pure essential oils providing natural fragrance and botanical character.
Pure essential oils, naturally fragrant
Essential oils are at the heart of Alkemi's natural home fragrance and botanical body care.
You'll never find synthetic fragrance oils in our products. Instead, our fragrances are created using the natural aromatic character of pure essential oils.
Where I create a blend, I use traditional perfumery principles, working with top, middle and base notes to create balance and depth.
Sometimes, though, one beautiful essential oil is all that's needed.
Bloom, with its beautiful rose geranium aroma, and Restore, centred around lavender, are examples of fragrances that let a single botanical note shine.
The result is fragrance designed not simply to make your home smell good, but to create an atmosphere and evoke a feeling.
Botanicals with a purpose
You'll also find herbs, flowers, clays and other botanical ingredients throughout the Alkemi body care collection.
These aren't simply decorative additions.
Calendula, oats, clays and dried herbs are chosen because they each bring something to a formulation — whether that's a particular skin-loving property, texture, colour or sensory quality.
Our botanical bath teas, for example, bring together carefully selected dried botanicals and essential oils to turn an ordinary bath into a more considered, relaxing ritual.
Our cold process soaps combine plant oils, botanicals, clays and essential oils to create a gentle, sensory bar that is as enjoyable to use as it is beautiful to look at.
Grown in Cornwall, where we can
Some of the botanicals you'll find in Alkemi products have a very short journey indeed.
Here on our smallholding in Cornwall, we're gradually growing more of the plants that go into our products.
Our lavender and calendula are already grown here, harvested by hand and carefully dried before becoming part of Alkemi.
2026 was the first year we started growing small pockets of other botanicals too, including German chamomile, lemon verbena and lemon balm, while expanding our lavender planting.
It wasn't the easiest growing season, but it was an important first step.
Our ambition is to grow more of the dried herbs and botanicals used in Alkemi products ourselves, allowing you to trace more of what goes into your products right back to the soil.
We're not there yet.
As a small-batch maker, most of our ingredients are currently sourced through carefully selected British suppliers. And yes, for now, we still buy dried nettle!
But every year we're growing a little more.
From seed to finished product
Choosing a natural product is about more than what isn't in it.
It's about knowing that the ingredients have been thoughtfully selected, understanding why they're there and feeling confident that the product has been made with care.
That's what we're working towards with Alkemi, natural ingredients, purposeful formulations and a growing connection between the land, the plants and the products we make.
